Audible was sued last August by some publishing houses that had issues with its AI-powered captions feature. The captions feature shows scrolling text in a window as the audiobook plays. The feature, while quit useful has raised questions about the right the company has to reproduce and deliver the text of the books it sells.
There could be some benefit to this feature, like a person being able to easily find the meaning of particular words as the audiobook plays. This is quite different from eBooks because all the text won’t be on the screen all at once. But we are waiting to see how the company settles this and continues with the move to push the feature out there.
Would you find this feature useful when listening to audiobooks?
