HyperX Cloud II Design Review
The HyperX Cloud II comes with a surround sound 7.1 and a modular design that have both remained one of the biggest selling points of the gaming headset. The headset also comes with support for volume and other controls for both the headphones and the mic. The dongle is detachable in case you want to connect the headset to a phone or some other 3.5mm jack devices, which makes it one of the best options for both gaming and everyday use.

I should also add that the mic is detachable, which is one thing you’d also love about the headset. The HyperX Cloud 2 comes with a 6-inch long mic with a flexible coil and large foam tip. On the comfort end, the HyperX Cloud 2’s design comes with an 11-ounce feathery construction, with memory foams around the ear cups and the headband, which comes handy when you have to use a headset for lengthy periods.
The cups comfortably sit around the ears, they don’t feel too tight, neither do they feel like they are seating on the ear. Overall, the HyperX Cloud 2 is one premium-looking gaming headset that’s designed for both gaming and everyday use.
HyperX Cloud 2 Headphones review
The quality of sound that the headphones of the HyperX Cloud 2 headset produce remain one of the best I have ever experienced. One of the best features of the HyperX Cloud 2 is its noise cancellation, which works with almost every setup you’re working or playing with.
For my games, I used the HyperX Cloud 2 with games like Titanfall and Assassin Creed, and it sure performed well. I can attest to the fact that this headset is great for competitive gaming as I was able to easily determine where enemy fire is coming from, with the chatters on the streets and the footsteps of enemies as they try to catch you by surprise.
Sounds like the slicing of the sword and the burst of the riffle was as realistic as possible. When I decided to turn the virtual surround sound 7.1 ON, I noticed that it helped to better highlight the details of the sounds in the game. The game does a good job of shutting out outside noise, which is great if you want the immersiveness of a gaming headset.
HyperX Cloud 2 Mic Review
The mic performed well on the test as listeners and fellow streamers noted that they could hear me loud and clear. I noticed little background noise, though, but was able to rectify that by taking the headset very close to my face, but that created another problem of the headset picking on my breath. Overall, for basic video conferencing and gaming needs, the mic on the Cloud II does the job.
HyperX Cloud 2 Mic Not Working
Some users have complained that the Mic on the Cloud II isn’t working, and this is especially for users gaming on PC. Some have mentioned that the mic works in some ports on their PC and doesn’t work in some, while some have found that it doesn’t work on any ports even when the headphones are working just fine. To fix these, try one of these methods:
- Do some basic troubleshooting
- Check your sound settings
- Update the headset driver
- Reset/reinstall Windows
HyperX Cloud 2 Software/Driver Download
The HyperX Cloud 2 is a plug-and-play gaming headset, it doesn’t need a software or driver to be able to work. But if you’re having compatibility issues with PS4, Xbox, and PCs you can download the Firmware update that also doubles as a firmware update for the soundcard. You will find a PDF document on the page with instructions on downloading, installing, and working with the Software / Driver update.
Selling for under $100, the HyperX Cloud 2 is one of the most stylish, comfortable headsets you will find with top-notch quality. The surround sound does a great job, with its audio experience that’s top-notch, coupled with better noise cancellation.
While the headset doesn’t come with software for creating sound profiles, it does have software that helps to improve the quality of operation of the 7.1 surround sound. It doesn’t feel too heavy and is comfortable on the ears and head.
