Being able to play your video games when traveling with friends is one thing many of us just can’t stop imagining. But then, you’d probably not be able to go around with your 42 inches TV or desktop monitor, neither are you able to carry a gaming PC with you every time. But what if you can get a gaming station that comes with a monitor?
In a Hurry?
In this article, we tested some of the best portable gaming stations with built-in monitors on the market. These gaming stations not only come with the features you’d need, but you also get high-quality monitors, so your gaming can be as realistic as possible even though it will be on a smaller display, smaller than you would have used if at home.

The Guardian Pro XP delivers one of the most impressive gaming environments for PS4, PS4 Pro, Xbox One, One X and One S. With the Guardian Pro XP, you’d be able to move wherever you want with your gaming setup right in your hands.
This 24 inches briefcase-lookalike has a built-in monitor that is around 16.9 inches wide and 4.79 inches tall. The monitor also comes with a 1440p resolution, an IPS display, and a 9ms response time with Overdrive. The screen delivers 16.7 million colors, while the brightness is clocked at 300nit.
This monitor allows you to choose between six different picture modes, there are also dedicated sliders that control the brightness, contrast, sharpness, saturation, and color temperature. Under the Sound settings, you’d be able to choose from and save up to 5 sound modes. The navigation and settings menu of the Guardian Pro XP is one of the most intuitive I have seen on any gaming station.
The build of this gaming station is one of the best I have seen. It weighs 31 pounds, the hard-shell case is of industrial-grade, making it very durable. On the side of the case, there is an attractive brushed metal cover, while there are anti-slip rubberized pads under the case to keep it in place and not slip off either when gaming on a table or just when packing it up.
You also have some rubber mats inside the casing that allows you to use either a PlayStation, Xbox, or any other compatible gaming consoles. Depending on the gaming console, this station has configurations and markings that indicate where the specific brand of gaming console be put. Two Velcro straps come with this case which is designed to hold the console in place, while an included plastic cage covers and screws it to the case of the station.
The Guardian Pro XP also comes with two 9W speakers built into either side of the case, there is a passive radiator subwoofer behind the speakers facing the screen. I should also add that you have connectivity features like the built-in streaming tools, the accessory mounts, HDMI, three USB ports and two 3.5mm audio jack ports for headphones and sound amplification.
Overall, for coming with support for a lot more gaming consoles, with connectivity and improved audio-video features, this review shows that the Guardian Pro XP easily passes as one of the best portable gaming stations with built-in monitors.
Buddah Tek Luxury Gaming Rover 1 – Best Portable Gaming Station for Xbox
- More compact, top quality build
- More connectivity and customization options
- Support for wireless connections
- Top-notch sound quality
- Crisp, clear display
- Travel friendly
- Quite bulky
If you need a portable gaming station with a built-in monitor that comes out-of-the-box with support for ergonomics, here is the best we will recommend. In contrast to many other gaming stations, the monitor on this gaming station is powered by the gaming console, so you only need to plug into one power outlet to start gaming, making this a power-efficient option.
With the gaming console already packed, this gaming station weighs around 8 pounds, it doesn’t overheat when placed either on a desk or on the leg, which is a pass. The Rover 1 was designed with a shielding, so it’s more travel friendly than most other options on this list. The one downside that we noticed was that the display was built into the top side of the shielding, putting it at risk of damage if not handled with care.
The Rover 1 comes with a smaller 13.3 inches FHD display, with a 1080 pixels resolution. The pixel density comes as one of the very best parts of this display as the clarity was simply top-notch. The Rover 1 also comes with a 60Hz refresh rate, and while this isn’t like the best for most PC gamers, console gaming is sure to perform amazingly smooth.
This gaming station comes with two 3W speakers and a passive Radiator Subwoofer. The speakers are on both sides of the station, there a USB port and two 3.5mm headphone jacks, so you’re able to get top quality, immersive sound straight to your headset.
I should also add that the station comes with Bluetooth 5.0 for users who are on wireless gaming headsets. There is an HDMI-in and HDMI-out at the back of the station, so you’re able to share your gameplay on a bigger screen, while also being able to use the built-in monitor with other systems.
Overall, for coming with some of the most advanced features on a gaming station, the Rover 1 easily passes as one of the best portable gaming stations with built-in monitors we chose.
Case Club Waterproof station – Best PS4 and Ps4 Pro Portable Gaming Station
- Top Quality rugged shell
- The image and color quality were high def.
- Waterproof, shockproof and dustproof
- Roof for gaming gear and straps to hold in place
- The case lid is hard to adjust
- The station can be very heavy
If you’re on a PS4 or PS4 Pro gaming console, then you should get this waterproof gaming station from Case Club. You only need to have your console connected to the monitor, plug the console and monitor cords into a power outlet and you’re good to go on your gaming.
The portable gaming station is waterproof, shockproof, dustproof, and the interior foams have been cut to the size of your PS4 consoles; there are two ps4 game controllers, game cases, and cords. It comes with a hook and loop strap with which you can fasten all of these to protect them from unwanted movements when in transit.
The display is around 18.5 inches LED HD+, which comes as one of the biggest on our list. The screen features a 5ms response time, 60 Hz refresh rate (which is just perfect for console gaming), a 1366 x 768 pixels resolution, while the aspect ratio is clocked at around 16:9. You also get two speakers that deliver some of the best sounds you’d find for a gaming station of this quality and price range.
The casing was made for heavy-duty handling, it comes with support for 2 padlocks, and it is made out of extremely tough polypropylene.
Overall, this waterproof gaming station was very easy to set up, movement was very seamless, although it is bulky, and it comes with an HDMI option that makes connecting in and out very easy. This Case Club gaming station surely deserves its place on this list of the best portable gaming stations with built-in monitors for PS4, PS4 Slim, and PS4 Pro.
GAEMS Sentinel Pro XP – Best Portable Gaming Station Xbox One X and PS4 Pro
- Durable and high-quality build
- Additional audio output support
- Crisp, clear graphics in-game
- Compatible with more gaming consoles
- The sound wasn’t the best
One of the first things we noticed when preparing this Sentinel Pro XP review is the fact that it looks super-slick, futuristic, and very portable. The 17 inches LED monitor that comes with this portable gaming station is probably higher than what you get on the average 1080p TV. But even at this, it doesn’t come with the 4K resolution that some are looking for, although it’s very compatible with Xbox One X and PlayStation 4 Pro.
You’d also love that the display comes with anti-glare finishing, which protects your eyes during lengthy gaming periods, while there are the 1920 x 1080 pixels resolution and 170 degrees viewing angles all around.
I loved how the Velcro straps and foam base keeps the gaming console safe when it’s packed in an unsafe position, but a 17 inches monitor is already giving us hints that this station is bigger than average. The case comes with around 105 degrees of hinge angle, the speakers were built into the frame of the monitor, directly below the monitor housing. These two 3W stereo speakers deliver amazing sound quality even without the headsets, but if you do decide to use a wired gaming headset, there is the 3.5mm audio output included.
The included HDMI lead is the perfect size for connecting the monitor to your gaming console. The lead runs from the back of the gaming console straight to the HDMI port. There is also a 12V DC power supply included in the setup that powers the monitor. To play, connect your console and monitor to the power source, have your console connected to your monitor and you would be up and running in no time.
We played Spider-Man on this gaming station, and the quality of the pictures wasn’t very different from what you’d get on a TV setup. The image quality is sharp, the color pop was superb and there doesn’t seem to be any reflections. I should also add that the quality of sound it delivered – while not the best – was OK.
GAEMS Vanguard – Best Portable Gaming Station under $300
- Sturdy, top-quality station build
- Comes with a remote control
- HDMI is compatible with as many devices
- Sharp 19-inch LED screen
- Subpar speakers
- Very heavy
- Only comes in 720p resolution
We fell in love with the build quality of this gaming station right from the first time we got it. The Vanguard is a hard plastic case that is quite bulky but gives the needed protection to the gaming console you have inside, helping you safely move it around and on trips as you want.
The Velcro straps inside the gaming station help hold your consoles in place, while it also comes with a handle on top and a shoulder strap that helps for movement. When we put our Xbox One gaming console inside, this gaming station weighs around 18.4 pounds, and the interesting part is that it has enough space inside of the monitor to put your cables, controllers, and any other gaming gear.
The center badge on the case is removable, making it a cool option for anyone who wants some customization. The interiors of the case come with LED lighting, so you’d be able to game in the dark and have no issues with your setups.
On the display, we noticed that the Vanguard defaulted to around 720 pixels resolution, it’s a 19 inches display so the default resolution wasn’t a deal-breaker. The picture quality of the monitor was pretty sharp, crisp clear, and good enough for the distance you’d probably be playing from.
You also get a remote control and a pretty intuitive menu with this gaming monitor. You’d be able to adjust and set the brightness levels, the contrast and the saturation of the display. When it comes to the sound, the menu also allows you to set sound profile features like the equalizations, the bass, and the treble. Adjusting and saving of the settings on the Vanguard are both easy and seamless.
You’d need the short HDMI lead included in the set to connect your console to the monitor. If you’d like to use this monitor for other entertainment features or screen-sharing needs, you can easily use the HDMI lead and it would work just fine. Other features include its two powerful stereo speakers, the two 3.5mm audio output jacks that come handy when playing both single and multiplayer games.
