MacRumors were able to acquire the picture above that shows hundreds of customers in line waiting for their Apple’s Xidan Joy City store in Beijing to start selling the iPhone 4S. There are 2 stores in Beijing and 3 in Shanghai with reports that all the stores had huge lines of customers as you will see from the additional photos below of another Apple store in China.

US Government Questions China Internet Censorship Practices

Everyone has known for some time that China censors their citizens from certain parts of the internet. But what qualifications must a site have to be excluded from the Great China Firewall?

Now the US Government wants to know how the filter actually works to filter out websites from results in China. Foreign minister Jiang Wu of Beijing told reporters this:

“This is international practice,” Jiang said at a daily media briefing. “At the same time, we are willing to work with other parties to step up communication and exchanges about the Internet and push for sound development of the cyberspace. But we oppose using Internet freedom as an excuse to interfere in other countries’ internal affairs.”

Chinese Couple Sells Children for Video Games

Next iPhone likely to be called 4s instead of 5

iPhone 5 Metal

We all thought that the next iPhone would launch this September and be called the iPhone 5, the next logical step in iPhone evolution. However according to sources from Forbes, the next iPhone may be simply another iPhone 4s with minor upgrades from the iPhone 4. This next iPhone will still launch on September, it just won’t be the iPhone 5.

The next iPhone will not have LTE support as previously predicted, however it may support HSPA+ on AT&T.

“According to our industry checks, the device should be called iPhone 4S and include minor cosmetic changes, better cameras, A5 dual-core processor, and HSPA+ support,”

Also, Apple may announce Sprint, T-Mobile, and China Mobile as new carriers for the iPhone. Both T-Mobile and Sprint will be added for the holidays and China Mobile within 12 months.
