YouTube upload limit increased to 15 minutes

This is great news, the original 10 minute limit on videos uploaded to YouTube has now been increased to 15 minutes. It was very time consuming to split an hour video into 6 separate parts, now it only has to be done 4 times.

YouTube stated that an increase in the time limit for videos was the number 1 most requested feature on YouTube. They want you to take advantage of this new change by uploading your 15 minutes of fame video to the site and tagging it with “yt15minutes” the best video will be displayed in the featured spotlight on YouTube’s front page for the world to see.

The move to 15 minutes was also influenced by the success of the content ID program created by YouTube to help the music and movie industry identify copyright content on YouTube. Read the full announcement here.

From Apple: iPhone 4 reception problem will be fixed in a few weeks

From Apple: iPhone 4 reception problem will be fixed in a few weeks

Today Apple has released a letter detailing the problem that was found that caused the recent iPhone 4 reception problems. Apple has discovered that the issue had lied with the software all along. But wait theres more, they say that the signal bars could be misleading you. For example Apple states that in any situation the iPhone 4 could be reporting a maximum of 2 more bars than it should, so if you have 5 you might only really have 3.

Read what Apple had to say:

Upon investigation, we were stunned to find that the formula we use to calculate how many bars of signal strength to display is totally wrong. Our formula, in many instances, mistakenly displays 2 more bars than it should for a given signal strength. For example, we sometimes display 4 bars when we should be displaying as few as 2 bars. Users observing a drop of several bars when they grip their iPhone in a certain way are most likely in an area with very weak signal strength, but they don’t know it because we are erroneously displaying 4 or 5 bars. Their big drop in bars is because their high bars were never real in the first place.

To fix this, we are adopting AT&T’s recently recommended formula for calculating how many bars to display for a given signal strength. The real signal strength remains the same, but the iPhone’s bars will report it far more accurately, providing users a much better indication of the reception they will get in a given area. We are also making bars 1, 2 and 3 a bit taller so they will be easier to see.

We will issue a free software update within a few weeks that incorporates the corrected formula. Since this mistake has been present since the original iPhone, this software update will also be available for the iPhone 3GS and iPhone 3G. -Apple

This still doesn’t explain the reasons behind dropped calls when the iPhone 4 is gripped the wrong way according to Apple. Unless of’course the software is telling the phone to drop the call because of diminished signal quality. Can a phone do that?

ATT 2GB Data plan is a joke heres why – iPhone 4

So, I got my iPhone 4 today, and of course I had to update all of my apps. I have not yet connected my new iPhone 4 to my wifi network yet. So I started updating apps on my iPhone like I normally do. Later while I was going through my settings on the phone I noticed that the phone had already downloaded over 4Gb of data only doing app updates! Now I see why ATT removed the unlimited data plans very clearly. Take a look at the screenshot of my usage screen on my new iPhone 4 below:

All I could say was wow!, I am glad I kept the unlimited data plan but what about all of the people that didn’t? How much data has your new iPhone 4 used, go ahead and check.

iPhone 4 release problems and reception?

So today the iPhone 4 was released, millions of inpatient customers had to wait in very long lines to get their hands on Steve Jobs newest creation. The wait in line was well worth it once the iPhone was in your hands. But the day did not go off without a hitch, and I will explain.

First, I was at the Apple Store in Indianapolis, Indiana (Keystone) and the Apple Store there happens to be in a Simon Mall. So Of’course Simon Mall Security would not let us near the property till 6am. Well there were at least a couple thousand people there, so the police were called and we were ushered off the mall property. Well eventually it became too much for the police and they left it to the mall cops so eventually we got in line. Here are a few pictures below and a video.
