Google had recently released Froyo, their latest Android update but rumors are surfacing that the new Android OS code named Gingerbread 3.0 is scheduled for release in October. More specifically October 15-16. Gingerbread will be the latest Android OS and Google plans to slow down updates after Gingerbread is released because they want to keep it to one update a year (rumor).

The new update will have some steep requirements that may not be supported on certain Android phones, let me list the requirements below:

• 1GHz CPU
• 512 MB RAM
• 1280×760 resolution for displays 4″ or bigger
• Completely revamped user interface
• Minimum 3.5″ display

With the requirements being more steep it will split the Android Market from High end devices to medium end devices, high will support 3.0 and medium will support 2.1/2.2 Froyo. But with phones like the Samsung Captivate from AT&T and the HTC Evo, I think the phones won’t have a problem with the new OS. If not listed above, what do you expect in the new Android OS?

Motorola officially announced the Motorola Droid X, a successor to the original Droid, today at their press only, invitation only event.

AT&T is at it again. For those who believed that AT&T wasn’t going to be releasing a top-of-the-line Android phone so there wouldn’t be any competition with the iPhone 4, AT&T has announced the fourth of the five Android smartphones that it was going to be releasing by the end of the second quarter of this year. For those who are counting, the first three are: Motorola Backflip, Dell Aero, and the HTC Aria.

For those of you who happen to live under a rock, on Monday, AT&T officially announced the HTC Aria, which will become available on June 20, for $229.99, or $129.99 after a $100 rebate with the purchase of a new contract or with a qualifying upgrade. This is the second Android phone to be released by AT&T, although the first one that has a chance at being successful, despite AT&T’s attempt to close off some of the Android’s open-source goodness.

AT&T will be getting its first HTC Android-based phone sooner than you might think. There are now more photos being leaked showing it, as well as a video made by AT&T showing us how they test their phones.

Samsung will soon be releasing its next Android-based phone in the U.S. The Samsung Galaxy S (shown below, on the left) was released earlier this month to Europe and Asia. The device will soon be launching in the U.S. The rumored launch is that it will launch on T-Mobile on July 21st. More will be known, though, on June 29, during a highly-touted Samsung event. Samsung is also rumored to announce the Samsung Galaxy Tab (shown below, on the right), an Android tablet, which is still in development.

You heard it right folks, Skype has decided to drop development for the Windows 7 mobile platform.

The folks over at TechCrunch have written a post about their findings on the upcoming Android Froyo 2.2 operating system. They have highlighted that the new os will feature Wifi tethering. With Wifi tethering you will be able to use the 3G connection on the phone to share with your other Wifiready devices such as your laptop. With this feature being added to the Android OS will we expect to see it released in the near future for the iPhone? That would be the cherry on top.

I am looking for other people that are interested in posting reviews for other smart phones like the iPhone or even the iPhone as well.
