I have been a user of StumbleUpon for some time now and I must say its a revolutionary service. For anyone reading this from under a rock and doesn’t know what StumbleUpon is, I’ll tell you. It is a free service that allows you to either thumbs up or thumbs down websites based on your interests. All you do is install the StumbleUpon bar on your browser or install the app on your iPad and press the Stumble button (it may help to create an account on their website).

StumbleUpon is growing rapidly in popularity of the social media websites on the internet, Twitter generates nearly 10 percent of social media global hits to websites, according to new research from StatCounter. The report found that Facebook is still the main source of traffic to global websites with almost half (48%) of social media hits followed by StumbleUpon with 25 percent. (Source: OneNewsPage.com)

I have been using StumbleUpon on my iPad for a while now, and I must say I do enjoy relaxing on the couch and stumbling on my iPad. Stumbling on the iPad seems like a whole new way to browse the internet, it is very easy and seamless. I do recommend downloading the iPad app for anyone that loves StumbleUpon and has an iPad, you will not regret it.

The only feature that the iPad version lacks is the favorites button, which is included on the browser version. The button allows you to view everything that you have marked as favorite with StumbleUpon, it would be a very nice feature on the iPad. Another feature I have emailed StumbleUpon to include in their next release is a possibility to see a list of sites that you have voted thumbs up. Because I would like to be able to re-visit those sites on the iPad, possibly some other kind of bookmark system like in a standard web browser. For now I will enjoy my experience with StumbleUpon on the iPad, get yours free from the iTunes app store.

We all wanted it and we all got it, Netflix on the iPad has been a hit. With over 12 million subscribers, Netflix has made instant streaming available on the iPad and has nailed it on the first try. The clarity of the streaming video is amazing, and sound is great too! I didn’t think they would be able to pull it off as well as they did, but man I am glad I was wrong.

The Netflix app is free from the iTunes app store, once downloading it you can start streaming immediately (assuming you have a Netflix account) by logging into your Netflix account. I started out by watching Angels and Demons, and the quality was stupendous, I could not have asked for more. The battery did not lose much power when the movie had ended either, maybe 5-10% battery life (wifi iPad). I do recommend the Netflix iPad app for anyone with an iPad and a Netflix account.

The imdb app is cleanly designed and easy to use. The iPhone app is actually easier to use than their website. I have tried the imdb app and love it so far, I do recommend this app to anyone that uses the imdb website and has an iPhone.

Anyone that has an iPhone or an iPod Touch, Emoji is a great app for either one. Emoji allows you to send smilies and other symbols via SMS or email. This FREE app opens up an entirely different feature to the keyboard.

First: Download from the app store.

Second: Launch the app and follow the instructions.

Third: Quit Emoji Free, then open the device settings.

Fourth: In settings- General –> International –> Keyboards –> Japanese

Fifth: Turn the Emoji switch to ON.

Sixth: Restart your device.

To use the keyboard, with the keyboard active on your screen, tap the globe/world icon in the left bottom corner. Then select the smiley keyboard, you now have access to over 460 Emoji icons!

Ever have trouble finding movie theaters in your area? Ever want to know what that movie you heard was good is about?

Flixter, Free on the app store allows you to see nearby theaters and what shows are playing at those theaters. You can click on a theater near by and see at what times your favorite movie is playing and even view a synopsis of the movie and a trailer right on your phone! You can also find theaters by zip to see what is playing in a different area. The only drawback that I can see from this app is the theaters by zip section, I believe that you should be able to enter a city or the zip. I do not always know the zip code of a place that I am going. But overall this app is handy and a must have for anyone who likes to go to movies. And remember it is FREE!
