Nintendo E3 2012 Keynote Recap

Nintendo E3

It was a big day for Nintendo fans today at E3, as Nintendo announced a number of games coming to their Wii U console, and they let slip a little detail about Wii U’s release- this holiday season.

The Nintendo conference began with an intro featuring Mr. Miyamoto in his dressing room, with some familiar little creatures running around in the racks- PIKMIN! Mr. Miyamoto took to the stage and we got a close look at the Pikmin, and their new game, Pikmin 3 which will be coming to the Wii U. It seems like it will be a far more satisfying experience than has been offered for Pikmin thus far, with better camera viewing angles and a constant mini-map display on the Wii U Controller display.

New “Legends” Game Comes to iOS, Android, and Chrome

Spacetime Studios, the people who brought us titles such as “Pocket Legends”, “Star Legends” and “Dark Legends” have announced a new game coming to iOS, Android and Chrome devices soon. It will be called “Arcane Legends” and seems to be just the Legends game I have been looking for. I prefer more traditional game offerings with choices like Rogues and Sorcerers rather than Archers and Enchantresses. Luckily for me, that’s what this game is going to have!

Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City in Review

Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City is a disgrace to the franchise. I have heard many people say that it is not worth playing very much without online multiplayer, and I agree with them. The story itself is engaging and interesting, and had brilliant promise, but it is so poorly executed that you find yourself not even caring anymore.  Even on the easiest setting, some of the campaigns can be difficult to clear unless you have other real-world people helping you out. The AI teammates are completely useless, never coming in for a heal at the proper time and NEVER getting out of your way when you need to dodge some bullets or (even better!) grenades.

Hauppage Broadway Review

The Broadway by Hauppage! is a pretty neat little device. It is a small box designed to be hooked up to your home television broadcast method of choice, and stream a live feed of your channels to your desired alternative watching mechanism. I had the opportunity to try one out this past week.

PlayStation Vita At a Glance

Sony’s PlayStation Vita is a console that has been received with many mixed feelings. After a weak start in Japan, the sales took a sharp drop, and there wasn’t much about the North American sales to redeem it. It has a gorgeous screen and a pretty solid lineup as far as games are concerned, but abysmal battery life and an exorbitant price tag. I pre-ordered the “First Edition Bundle” and received it a week early. From what I have played so far I enjoyed it for a little while, but I lost interest fairly quickly.
