AT&T Beam USB LTE Modem with built-in LCD due May 10th for $20


AT&T has announced their upcoming release of their new USB dongle modem from Sierra Wireless that will offer LTE in the states on 700/AWS and tri-band HSPA+ 850/1900/2100 as well as quad-band GSM/EDGE networks.

The modem will feature a built-in 96×64 black and white LCD panel that will alert users to carrier signal strength, actual data usage for those on capped plans, battery information, as well as a few other stats. But for those of you that thought when you saw that USB dongle that this device was a one computer kind of modem, well allow us to remedy those worries. The AT&T Beam will not only you user to connect to a computer via USB, but the modem will also include the ability to serve as a mobile hotspot for other devices, GPS, and it will also have a Micro-SD card support. The Beam will be able to support Windows 8 and RT laptops and tablets out of the box.

The Beam will weigh 1.91 ounces and comes in dimensions of 1.97 x 2.58 x 0.46 inches (50 x 65.5 x 11.7mm). Users can expect to see the Beam in AT&T retailers starting on May 10th for around $20 on 2-Year commitment.
