World of Warcraft Cities Turn Into Deathtraps, Hacker Suspected

Players logging into the World of Warcraft servers tonight beware that hackers have struck some of the major cities. It appears from the videos that the hackers have opened trial accounts and used level 1 characters to enter the cities and execute a script that instantly kills everyone around them at the time.

Blizzard has not released any statements nor warned users from logging into the servers tonight. Gameplay is actually being hampered, if you planned on doing anything productive in the cities tonight be careful. The first video shows a level 1 priest killing everyone outside Stormwind, the second video shows a level 1 that is flying around in Stormwind and kills everyone in sight.

Please comment if you have been a part of these shenanigans and please post your screenshots in the comment section below.

Update: Blizzard has dealt with the issue.

Earlier today, certain realms were affected by an in-game exploit, resulting in the deaths of player characters and non-player characters in some of the major cities. This exploit has already been hotfixed, so it should not be repeatable. It’s safe to continue playing and adventuring in major cities and elsewhere in Azeroth.

As with any exploit, we are taking this disruptive action very seriously and conducting a thorough investigation. If you have information relating to this incident, please email hacks@blizzard.com. We apologize for the inconvenience some of you experienced as a result of this and appreciate your understanding.
