If you are a user that has an iPhone 4S with iOS 5.1 on AT&T you may have noticed your 3G symbol turned 4G. It looks like users on AT&T that are connected to the HSPA+ network are getting the 4G symbol even though it is not a true 4th generation network. Apple and AT&T made this decision because they think that the iPhone 4S is capable of 4G speeds even though it is not true 4G.
With this change in place it will allow AT&T to differentiate itself from its competitors Verizon and Sprint with CDMA networks that do not offer the HSPDA connectivity. It is still however not true 4G which the next iPad will support which was unveiled on Wednesday.
What do you think? Should the iPhone 4S display 3G or 4G? Post your thoughts below in the comments.
