After months of non-confirmed rumors, Nintendo have finally announced a sequel to Pokemon Black and White. The sequel won’t be entitled Pokémon Grey instead being announced as Pokémon Black Version 2 and Pokémon White Version 2.
Black and White showed that the decade-old franchise has still a strong following. Along with the BETA release of the Pokémon Trading Card Game Online released last April, Pokémon is carrying Nintendo’s shortcomings with console sales dramatically dropping and the mobile gaming market being lost to cell phones.
This will be the first time Nintendo have followed up two versions of a game with two more versions of a game. But rather than be a mixed Pokémon Grey it’s likely to be a new addition to the series with new Pokémon to catch and train along with a new battle and contest mechanic. It is also likely that these are just working titles and possible mistranslations between Japanese shores and Anglophone ones.
Pokémon Black and White Version 2 is set to release this Summer in Japan. No estimated date of arrival for other places as of right now, nor does anyone if it’s pronounced “Pokémon Black, Version 2” or “Pokémon Black Version, 2”.
