Vizio to Jump into Consumer PC Business

Vizio is widely known for their HD television business, but now they will join the ranks of Toshiba, Sony, and Samsung in also making consumer PCs. Vizio’s Chief Technology Office (CTO), Matt McRae, broke the news in an interview with Bloomberg that their company will announce 2 All-in-One desktop PCs – in 24-inch and 27-inch variants – and 3 different laptop models at CES 2012. Pricing and availability should be here by June 2012.

The notebooks will be available in 3 options. There will be a 15.6-inch standard notebook along with 14-inch and 15.6 inch “Thin + Light Notebooks.” The thin models could be classified as ultrabooks. We are excited to see Vizio getting into this space as Vizio continues to be very innovative compared to other companies. We do wonder to see if Vizio will have a optional UI interface on their computers.
