Verizon Wireless Experiencing Nationwide Data Outage (Updated)

Verizon Wireless is currently experiencing a nationwide data outage with inconsistent reports. Some users are claiming both their 4G LTE and 3G EV-DO networks are down while others are only having 4G LTE down issues. Verizon Wireless network outages seem to be occurring more in 2011 than in past recent years and one can only wonder if the proliferation of smartphones, or more specifically iPhones, are to blame. Verizon Wireless is aware of the issue and says they are working to fix it, but there is currently no ETA on when the data services that have been interrupted across the nation will be fully restored as of yet.
Outages are being reported in parts of New York, New Jersey, North Carolina, and other areas as well. Verizon has updated the public with the following news as we began writing this article: “We are investigating reports of some customers experiencing trouble accessing the 4G LTE network. The network itself continues to operate and all customers continue to be able to make calls, send text messages and utilize data services. 3G devices are operating normally.”
