My Experiences with Nividia 3D Vision

The good people at Nvidia had provided me with an Nvidia 3D Vision setup that included a Nvidia Geforce GTX 570, 3D Vision Glasses and Sensor and Monitor. I would like to talk about my experiences playing games with the 3D Vision set.

The first game that I played in 3D was Portal 2 and I must say, it was breathtaking. Who would think that the gaming experience would be completely different when played in 3D? Well, it does make a difference and I think it was positive overall. The second game that I tested with the 3D vision set I didn’t even know had a 3D mode was Starcraft 2. While playing Starcraft 2 the units that fly look like they are actually popping out of the screen and it adds a whole new depth to the game. The third game I tried in 3D was Diablo 3 which at t his time is still in beta. The game itself I believe should be played in only 3D because it adds so much depth to the game it is unbelievable. Playing the game in 3D makes it feel more like you are actually participating in the game itself.

If you are on the fence whether or not to complete your PC gaming experience with the Nvidia 3D vision set I highly recommend you try it out. You will not regret your purchase.

I played a number of games with the Acer GD235HZ 3D monitor and a GTX480 and I loved it.   I will say that your experience will vary from game to game.   COD Black Ops campaign mode was amazing but the online multiplayer was annoying.    Too many on screen overlays caused poor depth of field.   Newer games usually did better while CS:S, DOD:S, TF2 etc were so so.   One of my favorites was L4D2 with a melee weapon.    Chainsaw in 3D anyone?
As with anything, moderation is a good idea.   I did find that a marathon gaming session in 3D left my eyes a little fatigued vs playing without.    If you REALLY want to go all out, NVIDIA even has their 3D Vision Surround with multi-monitor support, amazing for flight sim, racing etc.   Just be prepared to shell out some serious coin.
