Thunderbolt Technology To Become Faster With New Cables

If you thought Thunderbolt technology was already fast, well get ready for it to become much faster. Intel is working on some new cables that will use fiber optics instead of the current copper wiring. They will do this by creating a chip that will convert the data from the copper medium to light for transmission. With the new technology Thunderbolt will be able to send data at a blazing 700MB/Sec. Intel calls their new technology Silicon Photonics.

The best part about this technology is that you don’t have to wait. Current Thunderbolt ports available on Apple computers will be able to use this technology because it is all in the cable not the computer itself.
