Consumers who purchased a Motorola Xoom tablet are starting to receive emails from Motorola that their upgrade to 4G LTE is finally coming next week. Droid-Life reports that the update will begin on the Xoom owners within businesses and the government in a “pilot program.” The rest of the world should receive this update sometime thereafter. Customers will need to fill out an online upgrade request, once they receive their upgrade emails, where they will receive a shipment in the mail containing a pre-paid FedEx box to send their Xoom tablets, for upgrade, to Motorola and other instructional material. The process will take 3 days and users should back up their Xoom data before they try to update their tablets.
Xoom customers all over, who were far out of their return policies, have been livid in online forums about their lack of 4G LTE on their devices for nearly over 6 months now. We all would have like an update earlier in the year, even before the summer. But super late is better than never, we guess.
