ScanLife App to be Pre-Loaded on Certain Devices

Scanbuy has announced today that the Telenor Group and Telia Denmark will include the ScanLife mobile barcode reader as a preloaded app on several popular phones; including, Nokia N8 and Sony Ericsson’s Xperia arc, Xperia neo and Xperia Play.

The Scanlife app can scan standard 2D barcodes which can be scanned through a mobile phones camera and directs the user to digital content. Scanlife reads all standardized 2D barcode formats, including QR code, Datamatrix, and EZ code.

“There is great potential in 2D barcodes, and we are excited to include the ScanLife application on our handsets,” said Konrad Paul Hahn, Product Device Manager of Telia Denmark. “We look forward to working closely with Scanbuy to further explore what mobile barcode technology can offer our subscribers as well as the market.”

The interesting factor in this idea is it allows access to downloading/buying games on the Xperia, for example, easier than having to travel to the app store and search for a certain game. I have said before that QR codes have limitless possibilities to make everyday tasks even more convenient and Scanbuy is making that first step by pre-loading the application with devices to make access to QR codes easier and hassle free.

You can download the ScanLife app for free here.
