AT&T to release 4G LTE phone by end of year

4g speed

AT&T’s senior vice president of mobility and consumer markets Peter Ritcher announced that they would launch their first 4G LTE phone by year end. This announcement was made today at the Oppenheimer Technology and Communications Conference.

Ritcher also announced that AT&T plans to deploy LTE in 15 markets covering 70 million people by the end of 2011. Among the cities that will receive LTE first are Atlanta, Chicago, Dallas, Houston and San Antonio this summer and more to follow by year end. Ritcher also stated that “We are the only carrier with LTE and HSPA+,” “When you don’t have LTE you will fall back to faster speeds than our competitors.”

I myself can’t wait for a 4G iPhone, whoever said patience is a virtue was inhuman.
