More nonsense.   As the article says, the only IP addresses PayPal is turning over to the FBI are those of Windows PCs which have been hijacked and turned into zombies on the bot farms controlled by Anonymous.     As easy as PCs running the Windows OS are to hack into (it only takes an email sent to a clueless user, of which there are millions),  commands could be sent to the bot to erase all logs on the zombies and then delete the malware, leaving no trace.   Or, a command to format and scrub the HD would do as well.   Within days Anonymous could have another 100,000 Windows zombies in yet another bot farm.   In fact, they could have one or two dozen bot farms of that size.    After all, the largest bot farm found last fall contained 4,300,000 Windows PCs.

The problem is Window’s security model.   A Windows box is promiscuous with every piece of code it sees.   It doesn’t help to have anti-virus software because many of the hacks are with what is called “Zero-Day” infections — one’s which are in the wild but have yet to be analyzed and a vaccine created and added to some vendor’s dat file, which is then downloaded by users with paid up subscriptions.    Even Microsoft’s Security Essentials, the free AV from Microsoft,  is no better with Zero-Day security holes.    That’s why the world is shifting to Linux and Mac.

Yes, Ma and Pa Kettle on their cablemodem with back orifice installed.  That’ll gettem.  They do realize the point of botnets is so you don’t get caught, right.  Otherwise, they’d just flatten them off the Gig line they’re already on.

The people that volunteered might be in some deep trouble, if they were aware of their actions there are consequences.
