iPhone price cuts hit Radio Shack and Target Tomorrow?

iphone price drop

A picture has surfaced on the web of a purported price drop of the current iPhone models at both Radio Shack and Target. This may or may not indicate an upcoming refresh of the iPhone model which would indicate an imminent release of the iPhone 5. The ad shows that the iPhone 3GS will drop to $19.99 with a 2 year contract, iPhone 4 16GB at $169.99 and the 32GB version set at $269.99. These price changes are purported to hit Target as well.

This is not the first time RadioShack has made an agreement with Apple to offer the iPhone for less than everyone else. In fact, several times over the last 3 months the 3Gs has been free with activation. This does not indicate anything other than RadioShack has more wireless outlets than any other retailer in the country offering the iPhone. Add to that the fact that RadioShack will start offering Verizon Wireless in all corporate stores in a little over a month, this is more likely a ploy to get people interested in wireless at The Shack than it is an indication of a new handset coming. As far as Target goes, Target does not offer wireless sales; RadioShack offers wireless sales inside of Target stores. If the price was approved for RadioShack, then, yes, Target will follow suit.
