RadioShack will now be able to market itself to the largest customer base for a wireless carrier in the US. It is pulling itself away from T-Mobile most likely because of the AT&T – T-Mobile merger taking place.
According to Chief Executive Jim Gooch this will place RadioShack in a better position as a wireless multi-carrier retailer.
“This is a substantial win for our customers, as this relationship with the nation’s largest wireless provider will further enhance our position as a leading multi-carrier wireless retailer”
RadioShack has been struggling with its business plan in the past and is still struggling to recover and regain some traction in the market. It suffers from an old business model that worked in the past but does not work well nowadays. RadioShack hopes that this deal with Verizon will help get the company back on track for now and the future.
