THQ Warhammer 40K Kill Team Released on XBLA

THQ has announced that Warhammer 40K Kill Team Action Shooter has released on Xbox Live Arcade for 800 points.

Once again you are called to take command of the Emperors army  in THQ’s new third person arcade shooter. Warhammer 40K Kill Team puts you in command of up to four classes; the Sternguard Veteran, Techmarine, Vanguard Veteran and Librarian. In an attempt to destroy a giant Ork Kroozer en-route to an Imperial Forge World.

The game offers a single player campaign of six unique levels with the option to play with a friend in co-op. The levels are roughly 30 minutes each and filled with action and orc slaughtering fun.  The controls are pretty basic; movement is done with the left stick, firing is done with the right. Sprinting is the left trigger and your special move is the left bumper, while grenades are the right bumper and Melee is the ‘A’ button. The aiming could be better, and there are times when trying to shoot straight can get tough with the camera angles but for the most part the controls are smooth and doesn’t take much effort to get into the swing of things.

The classes offer range combat and close quarters combat;

  • Sternguard Veteran’s are equip with  a heavy machine gun and use the gun as a melee. Mostly ranged and a well-rounded class for those who are just starting out.
  • TechMarine’s have a small machine gun but their melee is a servo arm attached to their backs. They are a little more powerful in melee than the Sternguard but their weapon strength is also lower.
  • Vanguard Veteran’s are equip with less powerful pistols but their chainswords can cut through enemies with ease.
  • Librarian’s also have a small pistol but they carry the most powerful melee in the game, the righteous blade which can mow down legions of enemies with a single swing.
However, the big feature is that by beating the first Kill Team mission players unlock a special Power Sword for the upcoming Warhammer 40K Space Marine game which can be used in Multi-player to cut through flesh an armor, as well as features unique animations, combos and damage output. You can buy it on the Xbox Live Marketplace. The game will be released on the Playstation Network sometime later this summer. The game was a very enjoyable play-through and a must buy for any Warhammer 40K fans!
