For a company that doesn’t even have the iPhone in the US, it sure does have a lot of them on it’s network.
T-Mobile now has about 1 Million iPhones on it’s network. Now this doesn’t mean that T-Mobile supports these phones being on it’s network, it just allows them to be.
Users can unlock their iPhone any way they deem fit and just grab a T-Mobile SIM card that has been cut down to fit an iPhone to use on the T-Mobile network. Apple has now actually started selling unlocked versions of the iPhone 4 that can be used on any network which can support it but have a steep price. The phones were only cheaper because you had to sign a two year contract to be locked into a specific carrier.
The most popular phones running on the T-Mobile network are those of the iPhone 3G and 3GS- not the iPhone 4. The biggest reason being that the iPhone 4 hasn’t been out as long as the other two models. Since there are already that many phones on T-Mobile, I believe Apple should just allow T-Mobile to carry them in the US like they already do in the UK. What could it hurt? I mean T-Mobile is going to become AT&T anyways. Right?
