The iPhone has been around since 2007 and most recently available on the Verizon Wireless network. Now we knew that the iPhone was popular, but this is crazy popular.
The iPhone has only been on Verizon‘s network for only 5 months now and it is already the highest selling phone on the network. This just tells you how many users actually switched to an iPhone when it became available in a CDMA version.
The iPhone is also very popular on the AT&T network which we expected because it has been on the network since 2007. The iPhone accounts for approximately 65% of all phone sales on the AT&T network and about 51% on the Verizon Wireless network.
How does this compare with Android phones? Android on AT&T only came in at 31% and only 11% on Verizon Wireless. However the research conducted by BTIG Research indicates that they only polled 4G versions of both devices for some reason. Honestly I would like to see the same data with all Android devices being polled as well. Check out the graphic below for more information.
