Unlocked iPhones may come to the US
There are rumors spreading around on the internet that unlocked versions of the iPhone 4 may arrive in Apple Stores on Wednesday.
Twitter user @chronicwire has stated that “Unlocked iPhones headed to Apple Stores for Wednesday: MC603 (16GB, Black) MC604 (16GB, White) MC605 (32GB, Black) MC606 (32GB, White)” in which he has been right before. If the rumor is true, the unlocked phones will arrive in stores as early as Wednesday. Unlocked iPhones are not new to Apple, however they are new to US customers.
According to The Next Web, the source may be legit and it could be a definite possibility. I on the other hand do not see Apple supporting this feature in the US because there are not that many other major carriers that one could use an unlocked phone on. If Apple does make this change and actually distributes unlocked iPhones in the US it will be a complete change in policy for them.
