We already knew that the next iPhone would likely be delayed till later in the year or even next year. These rumors stemmed from the fact that Apple released the White iPhone 4 late in the year and part availability coming from Japan in light of the recent Tsunami. Apple has in the past announced new devices such as the iPhone at the World Wide Developers Conference which is coming up in June in San Francisco.
It could be announced at the WWDC however the phone may not be released in July like previous years according to an AT&T Customer Service representative. The rep told a reader over at MacRumors that Apple had actually told them that the phone release had been pushed back. This came from only an inquiry about why the customers eligibility for a subsidized upgrade had been pushed back.
Apple has informed us that they do not plan to release the iPhone in the June to July timeframe, though there will be a newer version in the future. Unfortunately, we have not been given a release time for the new phone. We will release this information on our website when it is available to us.
Now, this information is by far official and has not been released by Apple or AT&T in any official channels. There is no real way to confirm this at all really, or the customer service rep could have simply let it slip. But we do believe that the next iteration of the iPhone was already pushed back so this isn’t really news to us. [Via: GYGG]
