Apple buys iCloud.com for $4.5 million
Apple has been long rumored to be working on a cloud based music service for future implementation on their devices. A source familiar with the company has indicated that Apple has bought the iCloud.com domain name from Xcerion. The domain was sold to apple for a mere $4.5 million. Xcerion has recently renamed from iCloud.com to CloudMe.com which reportedly changed because of the purchase. The iCloud domain name had served as a storage in the cloud service.
As of this time the domain is still shown as owned by Xcerion on whois reports. No information has been released by Apple or Xcerion on the matter. Maybe this will be a new feature in iOS 5.
