Apple says the White iPhone was hard to make

iPhone White ReleaseThe White iPhone 4 officially launches tomorrow 4/28, 10 months after the initial announcement. It had been found that the White iPhone had encountered production issues such as color mismatches.

Phil Schiller and Steve Jobs in a recent interview had the following to say about the construction of the White iPhone.

“It was challenging. It’s not as simple as making something white. There’s a lot more that goes into both the material science of it–how it holds up over time…but also in how it all works with the sensors.” -Phil Schiller

“We obviously think about this in a generic way because you have a white iPad.” – Steve Jobs

Jobs also noted that during the research and construction of the White iPhone, it has greatly benefited the company. I would assume that it will help create more innovative products in the future and probably helped with the construction of the White iPad. Tomorrow we will see if all of the hard work that Apple put into the White iPhone actually pays off. [ubergizmo]
