Imagine a situation in which you are in a long distance relationship or your loved one/s are so far away from you that it is near impossible to go out with them and watch a movie. Take it a step further and you are the boss in a company. You want to have a conference where you want to provide your employees with a presentation which involves streaming a video but you don’t have the ability to be at two places at the same time to do that. The internet has provided us with a solution to this problem with the ever increasing progress in streaming and interactive online gaming. This solution comes in the form of ‘See too.’
See Too claims to share the following data:
– Video files (.mpeg, .avi, .mov, .wmv, .divx, .xvid, .vob, .3gp, .3g2, .flv, .mp4)
– Audio files (.mp3, .ogg, .wma, .wav)
– Image files (.jpg, .jpeg, .bmp)
– DVD (.vob)
The author tried and tested this website with one of their friends with a few of the extensions and they worked great for him. The streaming was smooth but off by a fraction of a second. However, the website also gives the user the option to place a marker as well on the video or image as it is displayed. This could be highly useful when you are the boss of a company and want to highlight a certain pointer in, lets say, your presentation. The website also has a typing chat feature.
So, how does this work? It’s simple. Go to the following website:
Next, click on ‘select a video’ button and choose the relevant extension file from your computer and let it stream. The browser will prompt you to install an add-on which will allow you to use See Too effectively. If you want your friend or co-worker to join in the same room, you can click on ‘invite a buddy’ button and provide them with the link to your streaming. You can also e-mail the link. However, this leads me to a major flaw or bug that we noticed while streaming. If you close the video and let the room settle for a short amount of time, the room glitches and you can’t stream any more videos. It will make you refresh the page and provide the clients with a newer link.
The quality of video streaming depends on your internet speed(obviously!) and the quality of the video being streamed. For example, streaming a blue ray or a HD quality movie throttled the poor server’s speed. So, at the moment, you can’t expect a high quality fun show with your friends or co-workers with the lite version.
With these many features, it is safe to say that See Too is a great website and provides a nice step to the new ‘stream-as-you-surf’ trend which is starting to grow nowadays. However, all this is relevant to the lite version of See Too. The premium version, even though we were unable to get our hands on it, offers unlimited size, unbound types of video formats, accurate synchronization, security of data and mark ups, drawing, spotlighting and chat tools. So, is the the lite version substantially good? The answer depends on what you want. If you are with a long distance friend, it’s a great tool. However, the paid version of this tool might be thought upon before someone might invest their money into this. Luckily, the website offers to ‘Request a free trial’ which we were unable to obtain. Alas!
