Sanitize your iPhone with UV light

A company called VIOlight has recently released the first phone sanitizer that uses UV light. This comes with a sigh of relief as studies have showed that smartphone screens harbor up to 18 times more germs than a toilet. Even TUAW reports that iPad, and iPhones harbor a ton of bacteria and germs and should be cleaned regularly.

TUAW discusses a study that was performed by The New York Daily News which found Staphylococcus aureus (a common source of staph infections), Candida parapsilosis (a yeast), and Corynebacterium minutissimum (a common source of skin rashes). You do not want these kinds of bacteria entering your mouth or anywhere on your face. So when you are in an Apple store remember all of the other people that may have touched that iPad before you play with it.

VIOlight claims that their phone sanitizer will eliminate up to 99.9% of germs on the surface of the phone upon use. The cell phone sanitizer is available for only $49.99 and you can pick it up at Brookstone, or other select retailers.
