Google renews deal with Apple to remain default search on iPhone

In a recent interview with Eric Schmidt by BusinessWeek, Schmidt talked about Google’s relationship with Apple. During the interview the discussion came to Google still being the default search on the iPhone.

“Apple is a company we both partner and compete with,” Schmidt said. “We do a search deal with them, recently extended, and we’re doing all sorts of things in maps and things like that.”

Rumors also suggested that Apple was in talks with Microsoft to add Bing as the default search on the iPhone but that seems to have fell through. Google and Apple’s relationship will remain as it has been thus far. So Google remains the default search on the iPhone, why change it?
