Victorinox Flash Review – More than a flash drive?

When our team first saw this little rock star, we instantly fell in love with this beautiful tiny gadget. As we don’t believe in love at first sight, we decided to check this product out and share our review with you all. Basically, it is a flash drive capable of doing little nifty tasks which might be pet peeves for many of us. Our interest made us want to get our hands on this device and the company provided us with this product for review. Here are the specs of our reviewed product obtained from the official website:

  • Removable USB flash drive(4 GB)
  • Blade
  • Nail file with screwdriver
  • Scissors
  • Key ring
  • LED mini white light (some versions include laser)
  • Up to 18,000 mcd = extremely bright light
  • Retractable Ball Point Pen
At a price USD $54.00, it might be debatable if you would want to buy these features or not?

The overall looks of this product seems satisfactory. With a smooth, transparent and compact appearance this product feels great to touch. It is roughly as long as your index finger. All the peripheral devices are easily accessible. The blade, scissors and nail file can easily slide out and latched into a stable position.

Flash Drive:

The flash drive which we reviewed is a 4GB USB 1.1/2.0 Interface storage device compatible with Windows 98 SE/ME/2000/XP/Vista/Windows 7, Mac OS X/Mac OX 8.6 or higher and Linux Kernel 2.4x and higher. It has a write protection capability which can be manually toggled with a small toggle switch on the USB. If you are looking for a plain USB storage device, you wouldn’t want to look further because buying a 4GB flash drive for $54.00 is absurd.

The ‘Minis’:

Some call them the blade, scissors and the nail file, but due to their compact size, we call these shiny pieces of metal ‘Minis.’ Each of these three items are compact and can be resourceful, if not just for being aesthetically pleasing. The scissor, it seems, can be used to cut paper and thin plastic covers.

Other Features:

Another prominent feature is the LED light which is capable of letting you see clearly in dark. Our tests turned out to be higher than our expectations and the LED allowed us to navigate indoors in complete darkness. The key ring itself requires an extension ring for adding a substantial amount of keys. The retractable ball point pen can be toggled using a slider.

A storage device with the capability of performing little annoying tasks is very handy. However, with a price tag of $54.00, it isn’t something everyone would want to buy. It is resourceful, durable but as you can notice, this product does not specialize – it’s like a jack of all trades. So if you like little gadgets which can do multiple tasks and look cool at the same time this is for you.
