New unhackable Swiss Army flash drive from Victorinox

Victorinox the creators of the Swiss Army knife and products has released an un-hackable USB swiss army flash drive in the UK. The company claims that it is the most secure device of its kind available to the public. The USB drive has several security layers implemented into it. The drive includes a fingerprint identification and thermal sensor, as well as tamper-proof protection. Any attempt to forcibly open the drive will trigger a self-destruct that will burn the CPU and memory chip inside. Amazing!

Victorinox was so confident that the drive was un-hackable that they offered a £100,000 prize for the person that could hack it. It was not hacked in the 2-hour limit that was imposed. The drive features AES256 bit encryption.

Wow. Giving attackers a 2 hour time limit, and telling them they cannot use their own computers or debugging tools to do the work (ie. show up at a retail shop in london and have 120 minutes on that generic computer), does not prove anything other than that Victorinox does not understand security or hackers. It’s unbelievable that the media would pick up some 120 minute, no tools, no decent computer, as some verification of “unhackable”. That’s irresponsible media.

Here’s an idea, show up at my bank naked with no gun and no tools. You have 120 minutes to break into the vault. If you cannot break in, then it’s “unbreakable”. Ridiculous.
