Cisco had a press conference today, to reveal their big announcement that they hinted to a month ago. The hint was that it would change the impact the internet would have on the world.
Today Cisco announced that it had created a 322 TB router called the CRS-3. How fast is 322 TB? According to Business Insider, it would be like downloading the entire printed collection of the Library of Congress in one second (assuming you have the space). The Cisco CRS-3 could bring enormous changes to cloud computing as we know it.
CRS-3 Official feature list:
- Delivers continuous operations
- Scales easily from numerous single-chassis form factors to a massive multichassis system, up to 322 Tbps
- Provides industry-leading efficiency, requiring low power, cooling, and rack-space use for intelligent, service-rich bandwidth capacity
